Today's Manufactured Homes are built in a factory on an assembly line with the same materials used in homes built on site. Manufactured Homes are built under a stringent building code, frequently more stringent than local building codes, in order to insure compliance with the Federal HUD Code. Once placed on its permanent site, Manufactured Homes are often indistinguishable from site-built homes.

This classification is often referred to as Quality Class. In addition, there can be sub-classes of each Quality Class.
